What am I Working On?
This is the most commonly asked question here at the studio. I typically don’t show works in progress, but here are a few examples of my current explorations.
Teton Range
On my recent trip to Jackson Wyoming to deliver my prints to Shari Brownfield Fine Art, I was smitten by the raw power and majesty of the Teton Range. I avoid photographing in the National Park system, as it feeds an idea antithetical to my art, which is that the beauty of the natural world lives only within its boundaries.
“Unseen/Seen” at Shari Brownfield Fine Art, Jackson, Wyoming
Another exhibition at Shari Brownfield Fine Art in Jackson, Wyoming, this time celebrating the love of nature as expressed through my black-and-white landscape art.
Why Do I Make My Own Analog Black-and-White Prints?
This question would have been laughable in the art community 25 years ago, but now, with the digital revolution firmly in place, it seems that now is a good time to answer that question.
Project Review: Brandenburg Properties
Sometimes we are lucky enough to meet a family that becomes their own.
The Village Hub Holiday Party and Gift Faire
My talented wife Julie B and I are participating in Woodside’s annual Gift Faire at the Village Hub adjacent to the Woodside Village Church, where my family regularly attended after moving to town in 1954.
What about Color?
I think we are all familiar with the iconic argument about which is better, the book or the movie. The best analogy I have to offer is that black-and-white photography is to the book what color photography is to the movie.
Redwoods as an Idea
The redwoods, once seen, leave a mark or create a vision that stays with you always. No one has ever successfully painted or photographed a redwood tree. The feeling they produce is not transferable. From them comes silence and awe. -Steinbeck
