Project Review: Archer Hotel, Napa California

I was recently approached by the Archer Hotel organization seeking the rights to a few of my landscape images from “The Valley of the Naps” as my former mentor, the late great Fred Lyon referred to his second home. They have since opened another of their celebrated boutique hotels in Downtown Napa California, featuring two of my pieces in every room in celebrating the beauty of the valley.

I have an extensive backgound designing, producing and installing photo murals dating back to the 1970’s. In this case, there was a need for one reflective mural per room, along with an edge-lit semi-transparent mural for the shower and tub surround. Given the scope of the project and requirements of the design team, I opted to take a support role and manage the reproduction process at a distance, as providing hand-made prints was not an option.

Two images were selected for installation in the hotel suites: After the Rain (1999), and Clearing Fog (1996). The resulting installations speak for themselves.
