Still at Play….

Pinguicula moranesis (2025)

In caring for my son’s carnivorous plant collection while he and his new wife are on an extended honeymoon, I’ve become entranced with these remarkable plants. This is Butterwort, botanical name Pinguicula moranensis, a plant that is covered with sticky fragrant glands that attract, trap and digest arthropods.

These tiny flowers appear twice a year and are especially delicate, measuring a mere 1/2” across. Unlike all the other cameraless artworks on the website, this one is rendered on 4x5” instead of 8x10” film due to its diminutive size. As you can see by the image, the glands on the stems are highly conductive.
