Black Fuse

(1999 - Present)

Ten Thousand Voices (2006)

When working on my cameraless images, I sometimes use B&W film to provide proximate renderings of my subjects. I do this to assess the resulting image in advance of committing color film to the effort, as the color film is expensive and no longer available. After years of doing this, I discovered that these B&W images have a unique quality all their own due to their expanded spectral sensitivity and impact. Named for the first of my color cameraless portfolios, "Through the Green Fuse," the Black Fuse explores my invented botanical world in graphic blacks and grays.
